About Dr. Bobby
The Reverend Doctor Bobby Newton, Dr.M was born in Los Angeles, California into a family of PC users and grew up believing that he had no choice but to follow in their footsteps. Then, in 1982, a tragic incident changed his life.
Dr. Bobby's father, Huey (no relation) was working on his Dell computer, when it crashed for
the third time in two days. In his anger and frustration, he lifted the ripped the computer from under his desk, intending to throw it out a nearby window. Unfortunately, he forgot to unplug the cables and was electrocuted. Still clutching the computer to his chest, he fell through the window and landed upon Dr. Bobby's mother, who was tending her garden below. His parents were killed by a Blue Screen of Death.
Many years after, Bobby wandered aimlessly, trying to find meaning in his digital life. Then, one day, he saw a commercial featuring a young woman named Ellen Feiss. Although she appeared to be intoxicated to many, Bobby sensed that there
was something more to her words. As he listened, her voice faded away and was replaced by another, older male voice. It was the voice of Steve Jobs. Although Ellen was saying, "Beep, beep, beep. And, I was like...huh?", Bobby heard Steve say to him, "Bobby, go forth and spread the word of Apple. Believe on me and on my operating system and on my hardware and ye shall be born again. Oh yeah, sorry about your parents. It wasn't me."
Bobby followed the path laid out to him by Steve. He studied the operating systems, starting with 7.1. He saved up enough money to buy his first Mac, a Color Classic. He went on earn a doctorate degree in Mactheology. Since then, as the number of believers has grown, so too, has the congregation of The Church of Mac.
Dr. Bobby is single and, due to an unfortunate exposure to a faulty heating blanket, sterile. He considers his collection of Macs, which he calls "Steve's Children", to be his own children as well.
Welcome, brothers and sisters! Blessings upon you and upon all of your Macs!
My name is The Reverend Doctor Bobby Newton, although most everybody just calls me Dr. Bobby.
I am the spiritual leader and technological guide of The Church of Mac. The mission of The Church of Mac is to spread the good news that salvation is available to all who accept Apple as their personal computing platform.
Here at The Church of Mac, we sing the praises of the Mighty Spirit that is Mac OS X. We love our blessed devices, great and small, from the Goliath Mac Pro, to the David iPod Shuffle. We strive everyday to walk in the path of our beloved teacher and CEO, Steve Jobs.
Our message goes out to the Mac faithful in the form of video iPodcasts (I use the term "iPodcasts" because taking the "i" out of iPod is like putting the "x" in Xmas.) The iPodcasts can found over there on the right. Just click on the title to watch a video.
I’m so glad that you came to visit us. It makes me happier than a four-armed man with two iPads!
Yours, in Apple
The Reverend Doctor Bobby Newton
"God loves you...and so does Steve!"
